Our Story

The APIDefender team spent many months starting in 2011 talking to enterprise customers about the challenges they face with enterprise application development, mobility, security, and APIs. Since then, the team’s focus has expanded from a mobile-first application security offering that works on-the-device and at the perimeter to API security solutions designed to protect against malicious attacks.

Rewinding even further back, our decades of thought leadership and experience in enterprise security, security as a service, application firewalls, and consumer mobile gives us a clear sense of the missing link and a peek into the API security crystal ball. Thus the idea for APIDefender.

APIDefender’s motley crew of cloud, security, and mobile, experts across continents have quietly gone about building APIDefender. We’ve just lifted the covers off of our baby and we invite you to give it a try.

Arvind Narain is a seasoned corporate executive, entrepreneur, and security thought leader.

Prior to APIDefender, Arvind was the President & COO at FunMobility, a mobile social entertainment company where 75+M consumers share, play and connect through their mobile devices.

Arvind previously held multiple senior executive roles at McAfee, serving most recently as Senior Vice President for Mobility, SaaS, and Service Providers. As SVP of Products and Field Operations, he led the global 500+ team responsible for revenue execution, product management, strategy and consulting for the $600M enterprise portfolio, and, as Co-founder and operational leader of Network Associates (NAI) subsidiary, myCIO, he conceived and created the world’s rst business-to-business security application service provider (ASP).

Arvind holds a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Madras, India.
